What types of search can I perform?
You can search for journals in International Index to Performing Arts using a combination of the following fields:
- Keyword(s)
- Journal Title
- ISSN
- Language
- Country of publication
- Publisher
How do I find information quickly?
Use the Keyword field to find all journal records containing a single word or phrase:
- Enter the word or words into the Keyword box and click the search button.
- The search results page will be displayed showing a list of journal records containing the word or phrase you entered.
How do I perform more complex searches?
Between search boxes, all terms are treated by default as if they were combined using the Boolean operator AND.
To search for journals by title
- Enter a word or phrase into the Journal title box
To search for articles by ISSN
- Enter the ISSN into the ISSN box
To search for journals written in a different language
- Enter the language into the Language box
OR - Click the select from a list link to choose from a list of languages
To search for journals published in a particular country
- Enter the country into the Country of publication box
OR - Click the select from a list link to choose from a list of countries
To search for journals published by a particular publisher
- Enter the name of the publisher into the Publisher box
OR - Click the select from a list link to choose from a list of publishers
How do I organize the results of my search?
Sorting results
The sort order can be chosen either on the search page before the search is run by selecting or afterwards from the results page. By default your results will be returned in relevance order. Choose an option from the Sort results drop-down list. Search results can be sorted in two ways:
- By relevance
- Alphabetically by journal title
Displaying results
You can choose whether to display 50 or 100 entries on the Journal Search Results page using the Display radio buttons:
- Click the 50 results radio button to display 50 results per page
- Click the 100 results radio button to display 100 results per page
You can change this on the results page too - the number will persist throughout your session or until you change it again. By default 50 results will display per page.
Submitting a search
When you have finished making your selections, click the Search button at the bottom of the page. The Journal Search Results page will appear displaying the results of your search.
If you want to clear all search boxes and begin a completely new search, click on the Clear search link at the bottom of the page.
